Bulls' Exhibition schedule to include game in the County

Press Release

BELLEVILLE, ON – In recognition of their valued affiliation with the Wellington Dukes, the OHL’s Belleville Bulls have announced that they will be playing their first ever game at the Essroc Centre in Wellington on Saturday, September 10th, 2011 as part of their annual pre season exhibition schedule.

The game will recognize the growing hockey development partnership between the Bulls and the Dukes that began in the 2009-2010 season. The two teams are working together to provide opportunities for development and advancement of their programs and prospects. Both hockey clubs are committed to on and off ice performance and understand that they share the enthusiasm for junior hockey from hockey fans throughout Prince Edward County and beyond. The game, the Bulls first ever at the new 1000 seat facility in Wellington, will see the Bulls play host to chief rivals, the Kingston Frontenacs at 7:00pm.

“We are really pleased to be able to take this exhibition game to this tremendous new facility in Wellington in support of the Wellington Dukes and their proud and passionate fans” commented Gord Simmonds, Bulls’ owner and governor. “As a community driven team, the Dukes count on local fundraising led by their dedicated volunteers. We hope that bringing an OHL game into the county will provide a solid opportunity for the Dukes organization to kick start another successful season of junior hockey. The Bulls have some extremely passionate fans in the county too and this game gives us a chance to engage with even more hockey fans in that part of the region”

“Working with Coach and GM Burnett to develop prospects for our respective organizations is an important benefit of our close affiliation” suggested Marty Abrams, Dukes Coach and GM. This past year we have started to see tangible benefits of this cooperation and we expect this will only strengthen in the years ahead. To have a modern and safe facility that is fully capable of hosting an OHL game is positive and having the Bulls come to the county this fall will be a positive boost for junior hockey and our organization.”
