Press Release

The Ontario Junior Hockey League tonight announced that Jordan Ruby of the Wellington Dukes (photo credit - Matthew Manor) has been named the 2010-11 winner of the Playoff Most Valuable Player Award.

Ruby capped off an impressive 2011-11 season by posting a 16-4 record as the club captured the 2011 OJHL Championship with a four games to one series victory over the defending champion Oakville Blades.

The 20-year old netminder, who was also named runner-up as OJHL regular season MVP, continued his impressive play into the playoffs. Along with a league-high 16 wins, Ruby recorded a 1.71 goals against average, a .946 save percentage and three shutouts, also tops among all goalies in the playoffs.

Ruby would stop 40 of 42 shots in the clinching game to earn 2nd star honours during a 4-2 victory. The Dukes were led by a two goal performance from star forward Joe Zarbo and the game-winner off the stick of Jan Kaminsky.

Wellington captures the OJHL Championship for the first time since 2002-03 and will now represent the Ontario Junior Hockey League at the 2011 Dudley-Hewitt Cup being held from April 19-23 in Huntsville, Ontario. The Dukes open the tournament at 2pm on April 19 versus the NOJHL champion Soo Eagles.
