MELVILLE AND MELFORT COMPLETE TRADE

Press Release

The January 10 trade that sent Cody Hanson and Brayden Metz from the Melville Millionaires to the Melfort Mustangs has now been finalized and the deal is a lot more than just futures as had previously been announced.

The deal has now officially been done with the Mustangs sending three roster players --Lee Christiansen, Sean Aschim, Jesse Mireau --, along with forward Levi Cable and cash to Melville. In return, not only did Melfort get Hanson and Metz, but they also acquired the rights to 1992 born forwards Lane Scheidl and Taylor Fauchoux. Scheidl played for the WHL’s Red Deer Rebels and Regina Pats this past season collecting 36 points while Fauchoux bounced around the BC and Alberta Junior League last year.

The three players the Millionaires get were all big players for the Mustangs last season and are all expected to have huge seasons in 2011-12 as Melville gets set to play in its new arena. Christiansen is already considered as one of the league’s top defencemen. He had 24 points last season. Aschim had 51 points while Mireau had 62. If the Millionaires can somehow get Cable wearing one of their uniforms, the deal might be one rememebered in Melville for a long time. It is expected the Yorkton Harvest midget player, who had 52 points in 40 games last season, will have a good shot at sticking with the WHL’s Kootenay Ice.
