Stampede Forward Headed to Alaska Fairbanks

Sioux Falls Stampede forward Nolan Youngmun will continue his hockey career next season at the University of Alaska Fairbanks.

Youngmun recorded 25 points (12g, 13a) and a plus-eight rating in 54 games during his first USHL season. He also added five points (2g, 3a) in 10 playoff games as the Stampede advanced to the Western Conference Final. Youngmun came to Sioux Falls after being selected by the club in the seventh round of the 2010 USHL Entry Draft. The 19-year-old Anchorage, Alaska native will return to his home state for the next step in his hockey career.

The University of Alaska Fairbanks Nanooks are a member of the CCHA and had seven USHL alumni on the roster this season; Cody Butcher (Sioux City Musketeers), Adam Cardwell (Indiana Ice), Justin Filzen (Green Bay Gamblers), Ryan Hohl (Sioux City/Lincoln/St. Louis), Joe Sova (Omaha/Sioux City/Waterloo), Andy Taranto (Fargo Force/Ohio/Omaha), and Steve Thompson (Sioux City Musketeers).
