TEGELER TO UMASS

Press Release

Marlboro, MA- Junior Bruins forward Andrew Tegeler recently committed to the University of Massachusetts at Amherst for the upcoming 2011-2012 season. Tegeler had a great season with the Bruins’ top club posting 19 goals-21 assists for 40 points in 44 league games. Overall he had 23 goals and 24 assists for 47 points in 58 games. Tegeler was a strong defensive player with a plus/minus for the season of +30.

A natural play maker, Tegeler found a knack of scoring big goals at crucial times down the stretch run. Over the last six regular season games Tegeler notched a point in each, racking up eight goals and three assists. On February 13th at Green Mountain, he scored a hat trick, which included the game-winner in overtime to cap a huge comeback. On February 21st at the South Shore Kings, he scored the game-winner 21 seconds into overtime on an amazing shot from the right face off dot. His clutch plays and goals placed him second on the team in game-winning-goals with six.

Tegeler can also play a physical game. His 6’1" frame gives him an advantage over most players on the ice and he uses it well. Tegeler’s ability to hit someone or use his tremendous speed and strength to drive around defenders to the net is one of his top attributes. Tegeler will be a great addition to the Minutemen lineup.

Tegeler, a ’92 birth year form Sewell, NJ, first joined the organization for the 2009 Little Bruins season where he started to attract attention from a handful of college coaches. He followed that up with a strong spring and summer season and carried that momentum into this season with the Junior Bruins (EJHL) team.

Congrats to Andrew and his family!
