67's Sign Top Draft Pick

Press Release

June 27, 2010 (Ottawa ON.): The Ottawa 67’s today announced the signing of their top draft pick in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection Draft (17th overall). 16-year old LW David Perklin, a native of Mississauga, ON., will be on the ice with the rest of the team when training camp opens at the end of August.

At 6’ 3” and 190 lbs, it’s expected Perklin will be able to hold his own against older, more experienced OHL opponents. Head Coach and Assistant General Manager Chris Byrne says he thinks the challenge of stepping-up to a higher level will bring out the best in Perklin. “In AAA Minor Midget, David always seemed to play his best when the games meant the most,” said Byrne. “His size speaks for itself, but David is also a highly skilled player and it’s going to be exciting to see him develop over the course of the season.”

Last season, Perklin led the Toronto Marlies 95’s to an OHL Showcase Cup championship with 6 points in 3 round-robin games and 6 more, four of them goals, in 3 playoff games.
