Press Release

Kitchener Rangers Head Coach and General Manager Steve Spott has announced that the team has signed Brent Pedersen to an Ontario Hockey League contract.

"Brent has the tools to become an effective power forward in the OHL," Murray Hiebert, Head Scout for the Kitchener Rangers stated. "He is a strong skater, with size and a heavy shot."

Pedersen, the Rangers' first round pick in the 2011 OHL Priority Selection, played for the Waterloo Wolves Minor Midgets last season where he tallied 34 goals and 18 assists in 49 games.

"In his minor hockey career, Brent has consistenly been a top goal scorer," Hiebert said. "His skill set should allow him to develop into a quality player that has natural professional upside."

Pedersen is looking forward to his first season in the OHL.

"I'm excited to be a part of such a great organization," Pedersen remarked. "The Rangers are known as one of the top teams in the OHL. I'm looking forward to training camp in August."

Rangers' training camp opens on Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium.
