Bulls Acquire Veteran Defenceman

Press Release

BELLEVILLE, ON - Belleville Bulls Head Coach and General Manager George Burnett announced early Friday that the team has acquired overaged defenceman Simon Gronvaldt from the Niagara IceDogs in exchange for a Belleville's conditional 15th round pick in 2013.

"We felt the need to address our blueline and add some needed experience and poise on the backend," said Burnett following the trade. "Gronvaldt is a good skater and can play effectively in both ends of the rink."

The 6 foot 2, 180Ibs. defender from Rodovre, Denmark brings 171 games of OHL experience to the Bulls' lineup. In three seasons between Kitchener, Barrie and Niagara, the 20 year-old has also played in 19 playoff contests. Gronvaldt had a goal and 15 assists in 57 games with Niagara this past season under Head Coach Marty Williamson.

If suited up for the Bulls this season, Gronvaldt would become the second native of Denmark to play in Belleville since goaltender Sebastian Dahm back in 2006.
