HAWKS HIRE ASSISTANT AND TRADE DUSYK

Press Release

Nipawin Hawks coach Doug Johnson has announced he has hired Chad McLeod to be the team’s assistant coach/general manager. Johnson and McLeod have worked together in the past with the Billings Bulls of the NAHL. McLeod has also served as the head coach of the Tulsa Rampage of the Western States League.

Johnson believes having McLeod assist him will increase their bench presence and the fact that McLeod is a former goaltender will do nothing but help the performance of both returnees—Brody Hoffman and Stephen Klein.

The Hawks have also announced they have traded Tanner Dusyk (1992-Montmartre, SK) to the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s Bonnyville Pontiacs for forward Eric Peterson (1991-Saskatoon, SK) and defenceman Jesse Williamson (1992-Saskatoon, SK).

Peterson had 11 goals and 24 assists for 35 points in 55 games last year while Williamson scord once and assisted on five others in 39 games for the Pontiacs last year.

Johnson says this trade allows the Hawks to fill their two biggest needs going into training camp seeing Peterson is fast and skilled while Williamson is big and rugged. He also feels the experience these two will bring into the Nipawin dressing room will be very beneficial.
