Kings Dman Jutzi locked up by Mavericks for 2012

Press Release

Powell River Kings defenceman Jon Jutzi is the latest BCHLer to land an NCAA scholarship and will be one of three league products headed to play for the Minnesota State University-Mankato Mavericks after next season.

The lanky defencemen put forth a solid rookie campaign in Powell River and will join Salmon Arm SilverBacks Brett Knowles and Bryce Gervais at MSU

A 6-foot-2, 195-pound native of Tavistock, Ont., Jutzi posted six goals and 18 assists and 10 penalty minutes in 56 regular season games. He came on strong in the postseason by scoring five goals and four assists to go along with eight penalty minutes in 17 games.

Jutzi will form a key part of the Kings' blueline next season as stalwarts Justin Dasilva and Jason Yee have graduated to Ohio State and UBC respectively. Fellow rearguards Craig Dalrymple and Braden Pears also return giving the Kings a good contingent returning on the back end.
