Reeds Accepts Position with Senators

Press Release

The Owen Sound Attack is pleased to announce that Head Coach Mark Reeds has accepted an Assistant Coaching position with the Ottawa Senators of the National Hockey League. Reeds, 51, completed his fourth season with the Owen Sound Attack in 2010/2011, guiding the Owen Sound franchise to their best regular season finish of all time. Under Reeds guidance in 2010/2011, the Attack captured their first ever MidWest division crown, Regular Season Western Conference Crown, Western Conference Playoff Championship and the cities first ever Ontario Hockey League Championship and Memorial Cup berth en route to being named the Ontario Hockey League’s Coach of the Year.

“Mark has contributed a lot to this organization over the last four seasons”, stated Attack General Manager Dale DeGray. “Anytime a coach of Mark’s caliber moves on, it creates a hole, however; we cannot thank him enough for his hard work, dedication and the positive attitude he has instilled throughout our whole organization. We wish Mark, his wife Mary, son Kyle and daughter Kelsey nothing but the best moving forward.”

Reeds will serve as an Assistant Coach under Paul MacLean, whom he worked with from ’93 to ’96 in Peoria. Also joining Reeds on the Senators Staff will be Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors Head Coach Dave Cameron. Cameron, 52, and Reeds are no strangers to one another after squaring off eight times in the Ontario League Finals and once in the 2011 MasterCard Memorial Cup.

Mark will be unavailable for comment for the short time being, however; is expected to be on hand for the Attack Awards BBQ and Banquet on July 3rd.
