Sioux Lookout names Zangs new head coach/GM

Press Release

SIOUX LOOKOUT, Ont. – The Sioux Lookout Flyers have announced that Brad Zangs has been named the Superior International Junior Hockey League club’s new head coach and general manager.

“The Flyer's organization is excited to have a person of Brad's experience and strong track record of development joins our club in its fourth season,” said team president Mitch Wills.

“He'll be a tremendous asset leading our team on the ice and in the community.”

Zangs was most recently head coach for the Albert Lea Thunder Junior A team in the North American Hockey League and also coached for the Northwest Knights and Butte Irish Junior programs.

He has helped advance many players to Division I and Division III, plus some have moved on to the NHL and in the minor pro ranks.

He was also on the coaching staffs at Iowa State University, where the Cyclones won an American Collegiate Hockey Association national championship, as well as Hamline University and Northland College.

"I’m very excited to become part of the Community of Sioux Lookout,” offered Zangs.

The opportunity to coach in the SIJHL, which is hosting the Dudley-Hewitt Cup this season will be great a challenge,” added Sioux Lookout’s new coach and GM.

Zangs replaces Kurt Waltsten who recently left the club to join Prince George of the BCHL as their assistant coach/GM.

The Flyers training camp goes Aug. 26-29 in Sioux Lookout.
