Steelers hire new General Manager

Selkirk, Manitoba- The Selkirk Steelers Junior ‘A’ Hockey Club is pleased to announce the hiring of Chris Poponick as General Manager/Director of Business Operations effective July 01, 2011.

Chris who originates from Selkirk will replace outgoing General Manager Ken Petrash and will be responsible for all team business operations.

Chris brings an extensive business background to the Steelers and has had past hockey experience as an Assistant Coach with the Selkirk Fishermen Junior ‘B’ Hockey Club for 12 years, served on the host Organizing Committee of the 2009 Telus Cup, holds his High Performance Coaching Certification and has coached minor hockey for 30 years.

“It’s an exciting opportunity having been involved in hockey for over 30 years in Selkirk and now having the opportunity to be a part of the most prominent hockey team in Selkirk is a great pleasure. I also look forward to working closely with our business partners and continuing to strengthen that relationship in the community,” says Chris Poponick, General Manager/Director of Business Operations.
