1st Round Pick Cole Cassels Commits to Generals

Press Release

Oshawa Generals Head Coach & General Manager Chris DePiero announced today that the team has signed their 1st round pick from the 2011 OHL Priority Selection, Cole Cassels to a standard OHL agreement.

Cassels, a 16-year old native of Ohio, was the 16th overall selection in this year’s draft after he spent last season with the Ohio Blue Jackets U16 Team. In 48 games last season he scored 22 goals while adding 44 assists for 66 points with the Blue Jackets.

“We are excited that Cole has formally joined the Generals family,” said Generals Head Coach and General Manager Chris DePiero. “We look forward to helping his development and watching his growth both on and off the ice over the next few years.”

The 5-foot-11 forward also played with the TPH Thunder at the 2011 OHL Cup where he scored 2 goals and 1 assist for 3 points in 4 games at the tournament.

“Obviously Cole had some different options for the next step in his hockey career and we are thrilled that he chose Oshawa for his hockey and education development.”
