Bandits Finalize Team Staff

Press Release

The Brooks Bandits are proud to announce the hiring of Neal Bruetsch as the team's Head Trainer and re-signing of Assistant Coach Brent Gunnlaugson.

Neal comes to Brooks with plenty of experience on his resume having spent the past three seasons as the Athletic Therapist/Equipment Manager for the Kindersley Klippers of the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. Prior to Kindersley he was in the same capacity for his hometown Dryden Ice Dogs of the Superior International Junior Hockey League.

Brent will be returning to the Bandits for his 3rd season behind the bench in the role of Assistant Coach. From Lethbridge, Alberta he has past ties to GM/Head Coach Ryan Papaioannou through the Lethbridge Athletic Association. Although they never coached together prior to Brooks, they established a hockey relationship around the rink in Lethbridge.

GM/Head Coach Ryan Papaioannou, "I have had the opportunity to get to know Neal over the past few weeks and he is a very motivated person. Our players will have access to first class treatment on and off the ice. We feel lucky to have found someone with his personality and professionalism. In re-signing Brent we can move forward with continuity in our approach. He is extremely well liked and respected by our players and always works in their best interests."
