MAJORS SIGN GOALTENDER SPENCER MARTIN

Mississauga, ON – The Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors are pleased to announce the signing of goaltender Spencer Martin.

Martin, 16, was selected by the Majors 18th overall in May’s OHL Priority Selection. He was the first goaltender taken in this year’s draft. He appeared in 50 games during his minor midget season with the Toronto Jr. Canadiens. Playing for a total of 2250 minutes, Martin allowed just 115 goals for a 2.27 goals against average. He also had five shutouts last season. The Oakville, ON native stands 6’1” tall and weighs in at 180 pounds.

Martin will now look ahead to the Majors training camp, beginning in late August.

The team opens up at the Hershey Centre a week later on Friday, September 30 with a re-match of the OHL Finals against the Owen Sound Attack.
