ANDREW JOHNSTON DEALT TO HUMBOLDT

Press Release

The Humboldt Broncos added an important cog to their RBC Cup hosting efforts on Monday by acquiring 1991 F Andrew Johnston from the Flin Flon Bombers for 1992 D Gabe Minville and future considerations.

Johnston was moved after it was determined he was likely to head to the USHL. By being sent to the Broncos, the Bombers receive tangible assets, Johnston stays home, and the Broncos get a first line forward.

Johnston built on a rookie season in which he contributed 43-points in 56-games by scoring 34-goals and 66-points in 57-games last season.

Minville has WHL experience with Everett and added 8-points in 38-games for the Broncos last year to go along with 66-penalty minutes.

“The Bomber organization has been great to me, helping me accomplish my goals and achieve a scholarship to Union,” said Johnston.

The deal wasn't easy for Flin Flon head coach Mike Reagan, who figures to ice a youthful squad this upcoming season. “I hope our fans understand the position we were in with his request and we did what we thought was best with our team moving forward. This was one of the hardest things we have had to do as an organization.“
