Attack Take Ireland

Press Release

The Owen Sound Attack is announcing that they will be holding a Press Conference on Wednesday, August 3rd at 12:00pm in the Shore Room of the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre where they will introduce Greg Ireland as the Attack’s Fifth Head Coach in franchise history. “After going over all of the candidates, I am 100% certain that we have found the right man for the job.”, stated Attack General Manager Dale DeGray. “Greg brings a wealth of experience from the professional ranks having been a head coach in both the East Coast Hockey League and the American Hockey League. As an organization, we feel he brings an honest work ethic and great attitude.”

Ireland last served as the Head Coach of the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League where he compiled an 84-75-19 record. Prior to that, he was the Head Coach of the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League which saw him tally a 109-65-17 record.

The press conference, which is open to ALL public and media, will also be used to introduce the Attack’s new Home and Away Jersey’s and logo. Freshly signed, First Round Draft Choice Zach Nastasiuk and forward Daniel Zweep will be on hand to assist in the unveiling of the jerseys.

The Attack and Nastasiuk agreed on a standard OHL Player Contract late last week. Nastasiuk, from Barrie, ON. notched 17 goals and 23 assists to go along with 38 penalty minutes in 41 games played. The 6’1, 175lb right winger is described by OHL Central Scouting as “a solid two way forward that also brings a lot of offensive productivity and potential to the table. He plays an honest, major junior style of game. He competes and works hard at a very consistent level and he won’t cheat you on effort. He has very good size, which he uses to his advantage…”

Doors for the press conference will open to the general public at 11:45am.
