Eagles Trade Josh Monk for Brandon Tanev

Surrey Eagles Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Matt Erhart announced today that they have acquired 20 year old forward Brandon Tanev from the Cowichan Valley Capitals.

Erhart sent 19 year old defensemen Josh Monk (Langley, B.C.) to the Cowichan Valley Capitals in exchange for 20 year old forward Brandon Tanev (Toronto, Ont).

Last season, Tanev (6’0 165lbs) played 46 games with the Markham Waxers of the OJHL and had 16 goals and 26 assists for 42 points. This summer, Tanev attended the Vancouver Canucks prospect camp.

Erhart is very excited about the addition of Tanev “Brandon has exceptional speed and quickness and will be able to take advantage of the Olympic sized surface at South Surrey Arena. The coaching staff is looking forward to being able to work with Brandon and help him achieve his hockey goals.

Monk came to the Eagles from the Salmon Arm Silverbacks midway thru last season and helped the Eagles to a second place finish in the Coastal Conference. Monk played 31 games for the Eagles and had 5 goals 8 assists for 13 points to go along with 50 PIM. The Surrey Eagles would like to thank Josh for his contributions to the hockey club and wish him the best in the future.
