Generals Acquire Goaltender Daniel Altshuller

Generals Head Coach and General Manager Chris DePiero announced today that the Generals have acquired the rights of goaltender Daniel Altshuller along with a 5th round pick in 2015 from the Belleville Bulls.

In return the Generals have sent a 2nd and 4th round pick in 2012, a 2nd round pick in 2014 and a 5th round pick in 2013 which originally belonged to the Owen Sound Attack to the Bulls.

Altshuller, who turned 17 last month was originally Belleville’s 3rd round pick, 45th overall in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection.

The native of Nepean, Ontario already has international experience as he represented Canada at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial U18 Tournament earlier this month. Altshuller posted a 4-1 record with a 1.29 GAA and led Canada to a Gold Medal. He was named the final game's player of the game for Canada.

He was also Team Ontario’s goalie at the 2011 Under-17 Hockey Challenge last December leading Ontario to a Gold Medal. During that tournament he won all 6 games for Ontario while posting a 1.66 GAA and a .924 save%.

Last season, the 6-foot-2 Altshuller played for the Nepean Raiders of the CCHL where he posted a 3.22 GAA and a .906 save% in 43 games.

Altshuller is already considered a top prospect for the 2012 NHL Draft and will be in attendance when the Generals get Training Camp underway tomorrow at the General Motors Centre.
