Generals Sign Defenceman Chris Carlisle

Press Release

Oshawa Generals Head Coach & General Manager Chris DePiero announced today that the team has signed defenceman Chris Carlisle to an Ontario Hockey League contract.

Carlisle, 16, was the Generals 15th round selection, 284th overall in the 2010 OHL Priority Selection. The 5-foot-9 defenceman spent last season with the North Jersey Avalanche where he registered 4 goals and 8 assists for 12 points in 21 games.

“Chris was a late round pick of ours in 2010 and was unable to compete at our training camp due to injury in his first year with us,” said Generals Head Coach and General Manager Chris DePiero. “He went home and had a strong season and came back this year and competed and earned a place here.”

Carlisle, born in December of 1994 is a late birthday and will not be eligible for the NHL Entry Draft until 2013.

“We are excited that Chris chose Oshawa. He had some different avenues he could have pursued but we are thrilled that he feels the OHL is the best place for him to be.”

Carlisle will join the rest of his new teammates when Generals Training Camp opens on August 31st.
