Green Bay Adds Mikesch to Coaching Staff

Press Release

The Green Bay Gamblers announced that they have hired Pat Mikesch to the role of assistant coach. He first joined the Gamblers as a volunteer coach this past spring, helping the team reach the Clark Cup Final.

"We are excited about adding a person with the extensive coaching experience at the collegiate and international level" said Gamblers Head Coach/General Manager Derek Lalonde. "Pat also has an impressive playing background in college, professional ranks, and on the international stage with various U.S. National Teams."

Prior to coming to Green Bay, Mikesch served as an assistant coach for the past six years with Michigan Tech University in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association. Along with his time as an assistant at Michigan Tech, Mikesch has been involved with USA Hockey and most recently served as assistant coach for the United States Under-17 team that won the gold medal at the 2011 Five Nations Cup in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

As a player, Mikesch was a four-year member (1992-96) of Michigan Tech's men's ice hockey team. He helped the Huskies to three WCHA Final Fives in four years. During his freshman campaign, he was named to the WCHA All-Rookie Team. Mikesch was also a three-time member of the WCHA ALL-Academic Team. He served as the Huskies team captain for the 1995-96 season, and left Michigan Tech as the program's seventh all-time leading scorer with 169 points (57g, 112a). Mikesch went on to play eight years of professional hockey in the AHL, IHL, ECHL, and in Germany.

Mikesch is no stranger to the USHL as spent two seasons playing for the Des Moines Buccaneers (1990-92). The forward was a teammate of former Gamblers head coach Eric Rud on the 1991-92 Buccaneers team that captured the Clark Cup. Mikesch was second on the team in scoring that season with 80 points (37g, 43a) in 46 games and was named All-USHL Second Team.

Pat and his wife, Amiee, have two sons, Austin (12) and Eliott (6), and one daughter, Kallianne (10).
