Jr. Trappers sign American defenceman

Press Release

The North Bay Jr. Trappers bolstered their blue line today with the signing of 1993 birth year defenceman Kyle Arenson.

The 6’ 0”, 195 pound product of Fort Collins, Colorado was a teammate last season of Jr. Trappers recent signing Justin Schneeberger. Arenson split the year playing Midget AA and Varsity High School in his hometown where he recorded 11 goals and 12 assists in 34 games split between the two teams in 2010-2011.

Arenson was recruited by Jr. Trappers Director of Scouting Wayne McClelland who watched him and Schneeberger at a tournament in Michigan last year.

The Colorado product lived up to his billing with an impressive showing at the Jr. Trappers camp in mid July.

“Kyle is a strong D-man who likes to protect the front of his net and punishes anyone in front of his goaltender,” said Jr. Trappers Associate GM Randy Blake.

“He makes a good first pass out of the D zone and can also chip in offensively.”

President/GM Chris Dawson is equally as excited with what Arenson brings to the organization.

“This young man showed a physical game and with his booming shot from the point at camp was an indication he can be effective on the power play too,” said Dawson.

Jr. Trappers camp opens on Monday, August 22nd.
