Jr. Trappers sign pair of power forwards

Press Release

The North Bay Jr. Trappers have added some size and muscle up front with the signing of 2 power forwards who attended the Jr. Trappers summer camp in mid July.

The Trappers have committed to 5’11, 200 lb. forward Jacob Kenney and 6’3”, 200 lb. forward Justin Schneeberger.

Kenney who hails from Hornpayne, ON is another product from the Hearst Elans Midget AA program joining other Elans graduates Jon Dionne and Jon Aubertin on the Trappers. Kenney had 9 goals and 3 assists in 30 games for the Elans last season.

“I love his tenacity,” stated Jr. Trappers head coach Tom McCarthy.

“We are also impressed with his physical presence, skating ability and his quick hands.”

Meantime, Schneeberger, who split his 2010-2011 year playing Midget AA and High School in Colorado last year, recorded 11 goals and 26 assists for 37 points in 37 games. The hulking forward is the son of former NBA Denver Nuggets draft pick Tom Schneeberger.

The 1992 birth year Fort Collins, Colorado product wasn’t afraid to play a physical game at Jr. Trappers Camp getting involved a pair of fights during scrimmages on the weekend.

“He has huge energy and he’s going to have to be taught to control it properly,” said McCarthy.

“By far he was the biggest individual in a company of a few individuals and he came to a 3 day camp traveling 3500 miles. He got under peoples skin and did what he had to do to try and make the team. He scored, fought, and created turmoil.“

Jr. Trappers President/GM Chris Dawson believes the two power forwards complement the signings of the small skilled Lipinski twins the club inked at the conclusion of the mid July camp.

“We love the way Kenney and Schneeberger play the game,” said Dawson.

“They are both passionate and will create space for some of our skilled players.”

Kenney and Schneeberger will be back in North Bay for the Jr. Trappers main camp which begins on August 22nd at Memorial Gardens.
