Pats Sign Top Two Picks

Regina, Saskatchewan – Regina Pats General Manager, Chad Lang is proud to announce the signing of their top two picks from the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft, Adam Brooks and Dane Schioler.

Brooks was the Pats 1st pick of the draft, taken in the second round 25th overall. The Winnipeg native scored 53 goals and had 37 assists for 90 points in just 30 regular season games with the Winnipeg Hawks. The 90 points was good for top spot in Winnipeg Bantam-AAA.

Schioler was the Pats 2nd pick of the draft, selected in the second round, 36th overall. He was Brooks’ linemate with the Winnipeg Hawks and finished second in scoring in Winnipeg Bantam-AAA with 11 goals and 52 assists for 63 points.

The two helped the Winnipeg Hawks to a league and Manitoba Provincial Championship. The Hawks then went all the way to the finals of the Western Canadian Bantam Championships, only to lose in overtime to the Burnaby Winter Club. Adam Brooks was named the tournament’s MVP.

Adam is a very skilled natural scorer with exceptional playmaking ability while Dane is your big, prototypical power forward who thinks the game very well and is a natural leader.” Regina Pats General Manger Chad Lang continues, “They complimented each other very well as teammates with the Hawks, taking them all the way to the Western Canadian Bantam Championships. It’s not just the skills on the ice, but off the ice Adam and Dane are good kids are well spoken and have a great family support system.”

Brooks and Schioler will hit the ice tomorrow morning at 9am for the 1st session of Training Camp 2011. Practices will run from 9:00am to 1:30pm before taking a break and then resuming at 5:30pm. All training camp practices will take place at the Co-operators Centre and will be open to the public.

Training Camp will culminate with the annual Prairie Mobile Blue and White game this Sunday afternoon at 2pm at the Co-operators Centre.
