Storm signs Zach Leslie

Press Release

The Guelph Storm Hockey Club announced today that Zach Leslie, the team's 4th round pick in 2010, has signed an Ontario Hockey League contract with the team.

The Ottawa native had 13 goals and 22 assists for 35 points in 56 games with the Gloucester Rangers of the Central Canada Hockey League last season. At 6’ ½” and 177 pounds, Leslie will bolster the Storm blueline after finishing second on Gloucester in defenceman scoring. After failing to collect a point in the first 15 games of his rookie season in junior, the blueliner exploded for 35 points in his final 41 regular season contests.

“The Storm is very pleased that Zach and his family have made the decision to continue his hockey career and academic development as a member of the Storm”, Vice President and GM Mike Kelly said. “Having watched Zach play Tier II junior in Gloucester this past season, I am very confident that he will be a major contributor to our on ice success. Zach exemplifies the type of talented, high achieving individual that we intend to build a championship team around. The fact that Zach chose to play for the Storm and forgo the many college hockey opportunities available to him, speaks volumes about his commitment both on and off the ice, and the confidence he has in the Storm organization.”

Leslie will join the rest of the Storm when training camp opens at the Sleeman Centre in late August.
