U.S. Roster Set for International Games at 2011 USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -- Twenty-nine of the original 44 players attending the 2011 USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp will remain to face Sweden and Finland in a series of international games here this week.


The players are auditioning for a spot on the U.S. National Junior Team that will take part in the 2012 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship, Dec. 26, 2011-Jan. 5, 2012, in Calgary and Edmonton, Alta.

"We are very pleased with the way the players have performed during the first three days of camp," said Tim Taylor, director of player personnel of the 2012 U.S. National Junior Team. "The players released today will continue to be a big part of our ongoing evaluation process and we look forward to the upcoming international games to further evaluate the players who remain in Lake Placid."


Among those remaining are goalie Jack Campbell (Port Huron, Mich.) and forward Jason Zucker (Las Vegas, Nev.), who were members of the gold medal-winning 2010 U.S. National Junior Team. In addition, nine members of the bronze medal-winning 2011 U.S. National Junior Team, including goaltenders Campbell and Andy Iles (Ithaca, N.Y); defenseman Justin Faulk (South St. Paul, Minn.), Derek Forbort (Duluth, Minn.) and Jon Merrill (Brighton, Mich.); and forwards Nick Bjugstad (Blaine, Minn.), Charlie Coyle (East Weymouth, Mass), Emerson Etem (Long Beach, Calif.) and Zucker.
