VEES STECHER GIVEN A LETTER

PENTICTON, BC– The Penticton Vees Hockey Club is pleased to announce Troy Stecher as an assistant captain for the 2011-12 season.

The 17 year-old North Vancouver native is returning for his second season with the Vees and is coming off a solid rookie campaign which saw him collect five goals and 20 points in 54 regular season games. He continued his strong play into the playoffs collecting five points, en route to being named Co-Playoff MVP.

“Leadership isn’t always equated by age; Troy showed great maturity throughout his 16 year-old season and maybe more importantly this off-season” Stated Vees Head Coach & General Manager, Fred Harbinson.

“Since the conclusion of last season, Troy has shown a dedication to his schooling and off-ice training that gives our coaching staff the confidence that he will be an outstanding leader this season.”

Penticton will round out their captaincy at the conclusion of Main Camp.

The Vees Also announced today they have traded the rights to 17 year-old forward Carter Rigby to the Victoria Grizzlies for future considerations.

The Vees would like to thank Carter for his contributions to the hockey team and wish him all the best in his future with Victoria.
