Vipers name third-year vet McGillis team captain

Press Release

The Vernon Vipers Hockey Club is pleased to announce that Patrick McGillis will serve as the team’s captain for the 2011-2012 hockey season.

McGillis has been a big part of the last two seasons championship runs. Before that he also led Notre Dame to a Telus Cup Championship. McGillis' background of hockey success proves he knows what it takes to win and carry on the winning tradition in Vernon.

McGillis is also one of the hardest working Vipers and leads by example both on and off the ice.

“Pat will be a great captain," said head coach Jason Williamson. "He knows what it takes to be a Vernon Viper and he will pass on the culture that has been created in Vernon. This is a great accomplishment for Pat and well deserved.”

Vipers camp is set to open on Thursday morning. The players will play an inter-squad game on Thursday and Friday evening at 6 PM.

The formal Blue and White game will be held on Saturday at 6 PM. Entry to the game will be by donation will proceeds going to the Somalia Relief Fund.
