Betz and Wood sign with Otters

The Erie Otters of the Ontario Hockey League have announced that right wing Nick Betz and defenseman Travis Wood have signed contracts with the team. The announcement was made by Otters general manager Sherry Bassin.

Betz was selected by the Otters in the sixth round (109th overall) of the 2011 OHL Priority Selection. Born July 17, 1995 in Mount Clemens, Mich., the right winger played with the Detroit Little Caesars Under-16 program last season, tallying 17 points in 35 games.

Wood was selected by the Otters in the 11th round (214th overall) of the 2011 OHL Priority Selection. Born November 22, 1995 in Maplewood, Minn., the defenseman picked up 17 points in 28 games with Hill-Murray High School as a freshman in the heralded Minnesota State High School League. A late birthday, he will be eligible for the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
