HAFNER JOINS BOWLING GREEN

Press Release

Wellington Dukes defenceman Rusty Hafner (photo credit - Izak Westgate/HHOF) has confirmed his commitment to join the Bowling Green State University Falcons beginning with the 2011-12 CCHA season.

The 6' 1", 200 lbs. defenceman from Toledo, Ohio still had a year of junior hockey eligibility left, but has seen his dream come true to play in his home State this season. This past year he led all Dukes D-men in OJHL playoff points with eight, including the overtime game-winner against the Oakville Blades in game four of the League Final on April 10th.

"It is not often we can be a part of someones dream, but in this case, Rusty has fulfilled his long time aspiration to be a part of the Bowling Green hockey program. It is well deserved as Rusty is the ultimate professional and teammate. He will be missed but we are extremely happy and proud of his achievement" state GM-Coach Marty Abrams.

Hafner becomes the 8th player from the Dukes Dudley Hewitt Cup Championship roster to move on this fall to the NCAA joining: Joe Zarbo (Clarkson U.), Jordan Ruby (R.I.T.), Curtis Leonard (RPI), Sean Rudy (Bemidji State), Zach Blake (Plattsburgh U.), Steve Evans (Westfield State) and Zach Jones
(Connecticut College).
