Maillet, Gourde and O’Brien named TELUS three stars of the week

Press Release

Philippe Maillet, Yanni Gourde and Zach O’Brien were named today the TELUS three stars of the week for the period spanning September 8 to 11.

Victoriaville Tigres’ Philippe Maillet is the first star of the week after scoring 6 goals and adding 3 assists during the first two games of the regular season. Maillet recorded 5 of the 6 goals during the game versus tje Océanic, an exploit that no other Victoriaville Tigres player has been able to equal in the past 10 years. He accumulated a total of 9 points and registered a +/- of +7. During this game, Yanni Gourde and Philippe Maillet became the 12th and 13th players in Tigres’ history to accumulate 7 points in one single game.

Unsurprisingly, Gourde joined his teammate as the second star of the week with 2 goals and 8 assists during these two contests for a total of 10 points and a +/- of +7. This marks the beginning of a good season for Gourde who was able to record 5 points and register a +/- of +5 in 3 preseason games.

Finally, Zach O’Brien, Acadie-Bathurst’s left-winger, got the third star of the week, after collecting 9 points in 2 games. He recorded a hat trick in an 8-1 victory against the Sea Dogs last Friday and added 2 goals against the Mooseheads on Saturday in a 7-3 win. He finished off the week with a +/- of +5.
