67's name Captain and Alternates

Press Release

October 5, 2011 (Ottawa, ON.): The Ottawa 67’s today announced their Captain and Alternate Captains for the 2011-12 OHL season. LD Marc-Anthony Zanetti, a 4-year veteran with the 67’s at age 20, was named Captain. On his sides as the alternates are LW Dalton Smith and RW Tyler Toffoli.

Head Coach and General Manager Chris Byrne introduced his captain and alternates saying Zanetti worked hard to earn the honour: “Marc Zanetti has worked for everything that he’s got. It has been a hard road for him and he deserves everything he has.” Regarding the alternate captain’s Dalton Smith and Tyler Toffoli, Byrne said he had no doubts they are the right men for the job: “Dalton is one of the best power forwards in the league. He is a premier player who goes to the net for plays and sticks up for teammates when the occasion arises. Tyler Toffoli has done a great job with the team the last four years and understands how important it is to teach the younger guys the ropes.”

Captain, Marc-Anthony Zanetti attended the Vancouver Canucks training camp this year and says that experience, combined with other NHL camps he’s attended, have shown him the commitment and dedication it takes to achieve a higher level of play. At 6’1, two-hundred pounds, Columbus draft pick Dalton Smith is well known as a power forward who can also chip-in on offence. Tyler Toffoli has 2 goals and 4 assists in 3 games so far in the season. Last year he tied in the league for overall points and led the league in goals with 57. The captain and his two alternates all have their sights set on the NHL after leading the 67’s deep into the playoffs this year.

Zanetti joins an elite selection of 67’s captains which have gone before him. That list includes: Logan Couture, Corey Locke, Gary Roberts, Bobby Smith. Doug Wilson and many more.
