Jeremy Olynyk of the Winnipeg Blues has been named the RBC Player of the Month for September in the MJHL, Commissioner Kim Davis announced today.
Olynyk has played a key role for the Blues, who presently sit first in the Addison Division. The Winnipeg native has 13 points (4-9) in nine games this season. A gifted playmaker, the 19-year-old has helped make the Blues’ powerplay effective, reflected in three assists.
The runners up are 20 year old forward David Conrad of the Selkirk Steelers and 18 year old forward Brent Wold of the Portage Terriers.
Sherwood Hockey Defenseman of the Month
September’s award has been given to Hudson Friesen, 18, of the Selkirk Steelers. The 6-foot-1, native of Oakbank was a steady presence along the blueline, in addition to contributing offensively with seven points (2-5) in seven games.
The runners up are 18 year old Channing Bresianni of the Winnipeg Blues and 20 year old Brenden Kotyk of the Dauphin Kings.
MGEU Goaltender of the Month
Unarguably, Jayson Argue of the Swan Valley Stampeders is a workhorse. He’s played in all seven Stampeder games thus far, and has been outstanding in the nets. He’s given up only 15 goals in 428 minutes played. He has a 3-4 record, highlited with an outstanding GAA of 2.10.
The runners up are 18 year old Isaiah Plett of the Winnipeg Blues and 20 year old Matt Krahn of the OCN Blizzard.
Husky Energy Rookie of the Month
Tanner Jago is making a big impression with the Winkler Flyers. The native of Brandon has enjoyed a strong start to his rookie season, reflected in six points (2-4) after six games.
The runners up are 18 year old forward Tyson Stoesz of the Winkler Flyers and 18 year old forward Justin Valentino of the Swan Valley Stampeders.
