Cougars Name Jesse Forsberg Captain

Press Release

The Prince George Cougars are pleased to announce that 18-year-old defenceman Jesse Forsberg has been named team captain. The product of Waldheim, Saskatchewan is entering his third season as a Prince George Cougar and has totaled 32 points in 108 games played so far in his career.

“It’s obviously a huge honor to be named captain of the Cougars,” said Forsberg. “When I heard (the news) I was excited, but also ready to do a good job and lead this team to some great things.”

“We really like what Jesse brings to us both on and off the ice,” said Prince George Cougars Head Coach Dean Clark. “He works extremely hard, is extremely competitive, and has earned this role because of his hard work and dedication.”

Three alternate captains were also announced. 19-year-old forward Brock Hirsche, 19-year-old defenceman Daniel Gibb and 20-year-old defenceman Cody Carlson will serve as the assistants to Forsberg.

Forsberg added, “Gibby and Hirsche have been here with me through the tough times and the good times together, and Carlson has been in the league a long time and he knows how to win.”

The Prince George Cougars continue their seven-game road trip tonight in Brandon, Manitoba before heading back west for games against Regina, Moose Jaw, Swift Current and Kamloops.
