François Tremblay, Konrad Abeltshauser and Ryan Tesink today were named the TELUS three stars of the week for the period extending from October 3 to 9.
Val-d’Or Foreurs netminder François Tremblay is the first star after collecting two shutout wins on the road and dropping his lone decision in a shootout. He stopped 28 shots in a 1-0 win versus the Saguenéens and then pushed away 39 shots in a 2-0 victory over the Armada. His only loss came at the hand of their vaunted rivals, the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies. Tremblay finished the week with a 1.30 goals-against-average and .956 save percentage.
Halifax Mooseheads defenseman Konrad Abeltshauser is the second star after recording two goals and five helpers in three Mooseheads victories. Abeltshauser enjoyed his best game of the week on Saturday, collecting four helpers in a 6-4 win over the Rocket and thus tying the franchise record for the number of points by a defenseman in one game. Moreover, he was named the game’s first star. He finished the week with a +4 rating.
Saint John Sea Dogs forward Ryan Tesink is the third star after scoring two goals and adding four helpers in two Saint John victories. Tesink collected four assists in an 8-2 win over the Rimouski Océanic on Saturday before registering two goals in a 6-2 win over the very solid Victoriaville Tigres the next day. Of note, Tesink was awarded a star in both games. He finished the week with a +4 rating.
