OHL Announces Disciplinary Action

Toronto, ON – The Ontario Hockey League today announced the results of three separate disciplinary reviews.  The league has taken the position, that for education purposes, any announcement regarding supplementary discipline will be supported by video footage and additional rationale for all incidents involving checking to the head, checking from behind, and others at the discretion of the league.

Player Mark Petaccio – Oshawa Generals Hockey Club

The Ontario Hockey League today announced the results of a review of an incident which occurred in a game played in Oshawa on the 30th of September, 2011, involving the Generals and the visiting Belleville Bulls Hockey Club.

The incident reviewed was a 5 minute major and game misconduct for checking to the head assessed to player Mark Petaccio of the Oshawa Generals Hockey Club for his hit on Bulls’ defenceman Simon Gronvaldt.

Based on such review, it is the position of the League that player Mark Petaccio shall be suspended for ten (10) games, dating from but not including the game of Friday, September 30th, 2011.

Player Kyle Flemington – London Knights Hockey Club

The Ontario Hockey League today announced the results of a review of an incident which occurred in a game played in London on the 30th of September, 2011, involving the Knights and the visiting Sudbury Wolves Hockey Club.

The incident reviewed was a 5 minute major and game misconduct for checking to the head assessed to player Kyle Flemington of the London Knights Hockey Club for his hit on Wolves’ forward Jacob Harris.

Based on such review, it is the position of the League that player Kyle Flemington shall be suspended for fifteen (15) games, dating from but not including the game of Friday, September 30th, 2011.

Player Jamie Wise – Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors Hockey Club

The Ontario Hockey League today announced the results of a review of an incident which occurred in a game played in Mississauga on the 2nd of October, 2011, involving the Majors and the visiting Kingston Frontenacs Hockey Club.

The incident reviewed was a 5 minute major and game misconduct for checking to the head assessed to player Jamie Wise of the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors Hockey Club for his hit on Frontenacs’ defenceman Kyler Nixon.

Based on such review, it is the position of the League that player Jamie Wise shall be suspended for eight (8) games effective immediately.
