PORTLAND WINTERHAWKS: Move Nov. 12 Game

Press Release

With Monday’s announcement that the National Basketball Association is canceling the first two weeks of its 2011-12 season, the Winterhawks are moving their Saturday, November 12 game against the Spokane Chiefs from Veterans Memorial Coliseum to the Rose Garden. Game time will remain 5 p.m.

Single game tickets for that game go on sale Friday morning at 10 a.m. at the Rose Quarter box office, winterhawks.com and the team’s ticket office inside Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Season ticket and package holders will receive a seat location card in the mail in the coming weeks, and should bring the card and their Coliseum ticket to the game.

“A Winterhawks game is a fun, affordable night out for families, and we provide tremendous value to sports fans in Portland,” said Winterhawks President Doug Piper. “As the defending Western Conference champions, and with eight National Hockey League draft picks on our roster, there’s never been a better time to check out a Winterhawks game.”

The game on the 12th is a Salute to Veterans, sponsored by Intel. The Winterhawks and Chiefs also play the prior night, Friday, November 11, at 7 p.m. in the Rose Garden.

The Winterhawks and Intel are hosting a Soldier Care Package drive and encouraging people to bring commonly requested items to both games, which Intel will then send to active military personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan. Soldier Care Package items can include toiletries, food and entertainment items. For a complete list of acceptable items visit http://www.give2thetroops.org/items.htm.

Five-game ticket plans are now available and start at just $60 per person and include five free gifts. Group rates start at 10 people ($16.50 per person) and every ticket includes a free Winterhawks hat. Call 503-236-HAWK or e-mail seats@winterhawks.com today to guarantee the best locations.
