RAIDERS' PARKER SIGNS WITH NHL'S SABRES

Press Release

Prince Albert SK- The Prince Albert Raiders are proud to announce that 20-year-old forward Jonathon Parker has signed an entry-level contract with the Buffalo Sabres of the National Hockey League.

Parker had a breakout season in 2010-2011, scoring a team leading 45 goals, after scoring just 17 and 15 goals in his previous seasons with the Seattle Thunderbirds. His team leading 86 points had him tied for fifth overall in the WHL.

“Growing up playing hockey all your life your dream is to play in the NHL. To sign with the Sabres and get closer to that goal is the best feeling!” said Parker from Rochester, New York where he is on the American Hockey League roster for the Rochester Americans, the Buffalo Sabres affiliate.

He also commented on his time in the Western Hockey League, and with the Prince Albert Raiders, “Getting traded to Prince Albert taught me a lot about the game. Seeing different styles of coaching was a great experience. In Prince Albert, I thought I worked very well with Bruno, Steve and Craig on and off the ice to prepare me to be a professional player and a professional person. I want to thank them for all they did for me as well as all the Raider staff and my billets and wish the Raiders all the best this season.”

"Jonathan has worked extremely hard for this opportunity and we wish him great success," said Raiders Head Coach and General Manager, Bruno Campese.
