2012 AGM and Draft to be held in Yarmouth

The MHL and Premier Sponsor Kent announced on Wednesday that the 2012 Annual General Meeting and Midget Draft will be hosted in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia by the Yarmouth Jr. A Mariners. The AGM and Draft are scheduled to take place in June.

Hosting the 2012 Draft and AGM will be a first ever for both the Mariners and the host community of Yarmouth, who will also welcome the world in November as they host the 2012 World Junior A Challenge November 5-11.

“The Mariners organization is very pleased to be hosting the MHL Draft and AGM in Yarmouth for the first time in team history”, said team President Mitch Bonnar. “We are very excited to demonstrate to our member teams and fans the excellent hospitality we have become well known for in Yarmouth and we are confident that the event will be both unique and enjoyable”.

“The Maritime Junior Hockey League is happy to award the AGM and Draft to the Yarmouth Mariners for 2012”, commented League President Derryl Smith. “The Mariners have been a top franchise since entering the league in 2002 and we have full expectations that they will put on a great weekend.”

MHL Chair of the Board of Governors John Lynn adds that hosting the Draft in Yarmouth will serve as a lead up for the World Junior A Challenge, allowing the team and community an opportunity to start working together to welcome teams and fans from away.

“This a great opportunity to put an early spotlight on Yarmouth leading up to what will be a high profile event for their organization and the MHL next November”, said Lynn. “Hosting the Draft will give the Mariners and the community of Yarmouth a chance to practice their hosting capacity in advance of the Challenge and demonstrate to our member teams and fans Yarmouth’s hosting capabilities. We are confident it will be an excellent first time Draft weekend in Southwestern Nova Scotia”.

The Mariners are now in the process of planning details for the evedates, will be released in the near future as plans are finalized.
