Armada’s Étienne Marcoux Named Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Étienne Marcoux of the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada is the Vaughn CHL Goaltender of the Week for the week ending December 11 after posting a 2-0-0-0 record including a shutout victory with a goals-against-average of 0.50 and save percentage of .977.

Marcoux earned his 10th win of the season on Friday night against the Val d’Or Foreurs with 13 saves as part of the 6-1 victory. On Saturday he picked up his first career shutout stopping all 30 shots against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles and was named first star of the 7-0 victory.

Marcoux, an 18-year-old from La Plaine, Quebec, is playing in his second full QMJHL season. The 2012 NHL Entry Draft prospect has a record among the best in the league at 11-3-1-0 with a goals-against-average of 2.54 and save percentage of .911.

Also considered for the award this week was Ty Rimmer of the Tri-City Americans and last week’s award winner Joel Vienneau of the Sudbury Wolves. Rimmer won two games including a shutout victory with a goals-against-average of 1.00 and save percentage of .967, while Vienneau went 1-1-0-0 with a goals-against-average of 1.00 and save percentage of .968.
