Gannon gets POW nod, leads league in points for week

Cowichan Valley Capitals forward Devin Gannon has been named the British Columbia Hockey League's Player of the Week for the week ending Dec. 11, the league announced Monday.

Gannon blew up for a three-goal, three-assist game in and 8-5 win over the Langley Rivermen Saturday to take 1st Star honours and concluded the week with a goal and two assists in a victory over the Coquitlam Express where he took 2nd Star.

The Kamloops native's nine-point weekend led all scorers for the week and moved him into the top-10 in BCHL scoring. He leads the Caps with 15 goals and 28 assists on the season.

Honourable mentions this week go to Chilliwack Chiefs forward Derek Huisman (two goals, three assists, 1st Star), Penticton Vees defenceman Mike Reilly (one goal, six assists, four 3rd Stars), Merritt Centennials defenceman Brandon Pfeil (two goals, two assists, 2nd Star), Penticton Vees defenceman Troy Stecher (one goal, five assists) and Penticton Vees forward Ryan Reilly (four goals, two assists, 2nd Star).
