Grizz pipeline to Cornell continues as DeJong commits to Big Red

Victoria Grizzlies rookie defenceman Nolan De Jong, 16, has accepted a scholarship to Cornell University for the 2014-15 season.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound blueliner follows Grizzlies grads Madison Dias and Joel Lowry who are currently playing in their freshman seasons for the Big Red.

De Jong has a pair of goals and five assists in 29 games so far this season to go along with 18 penalty minutes.

Cornell, an Ivy League university, plays in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) along with schools such as Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Colgate, Brown and Union.

In the most recent USA Today/USA Hockey NCAA men's hockey poll, the Big Red earned a #15 ranking nationally.
