Alexandre Mallet, Jonathan Lessard and Gabriel Girard were named today the TELUS three stars of the week for the period spanning December 12th to the 18th.
Alexandre Mallet, the Rimouski Océanic centre, is the first star after having collected a total of 8 points in 2 games. Friday, in a 6-1 win against the Chicoutimi Saguenéens, he was named the 1st star of the game after registering his second hat trick of the season on top of adding 2 assists. Saturday, he scored 1 goal and added 2 assists with a +/- of +3 in a 6-5 victory over the Rocket. He awarded the 2nd star of the game .
The second star belongs to Jonathan Lessard. The Baie-Comeau Drakkar right-winger was named the 2nd star of the game on Tuesday against the Quebec Remparts after tallying one goal and an assist along with a +/- of +1. Friday, in a 4-1 win versus the Victoriaville Tigres, he scored the go-ahead goal in the middle of the 2nd period which ended up being the game winner. Saturday, he scored his 100th goal in the QMJHL, a game-winner which clinched the hat-trick and a 5-2 victory over the Olympiques.
Shawinigan Cataractes goaltender Gabriel Girard is the third star. Friday, in a 3-1 win against the Val-d’Or Foreurs, he made 18 saves on 19 shots. He also posted his second shutout in 3 games on Saturday, a 7-0 win over the Rouyn-Noranada Huskies. He finishes the week with a 0.979 save percentage and a goals-against-average of 0.50. The Cataractes have won five straight games.
