Oceanic’s Alexandre Mallet Named CHL Player of the Week

Toronto, ON – The Canadian Hockey League today announced that Alexandre Mallet of the Rimouski Oceanic is the CHL Player of the Week for the week ending December 18 after collecting eight points in two games scoring four goals and four assists with a plus-minus rating of plus-5.

Mallet led the Oceanic to two wins to close out the first half of the QMJHL season.  On Friday night he scored his second hat-trick of the season and added two assists for his first career five-point game.  He was named first star of the 6-1 victory over the Chicoutimi Sagueneens.  On Saturday night he earned second star honours in a 6-5 win over the PEI Rocket scoring one goal and two assists.

Mallet, a 19-year-old from Amqui, Quebec, is playing in his third full QMJHL season.  He is currently tied for seventh overall in league scoring enjoying new career highs in all offensive categories scoring 20 goals and 32 assists for 52 points in 39 games.

Also considered for the award this week was Andrew Agozzino of the Niagara IceDogs who scored two goals and five assists for seven points in two games.  In the WHL, Patrick Holland of the Tri-City Americans scored three goals and three assists for six points in two games.
