SPOKANE CHIEFS: Uher on Czech Republic

Press Release

Spokane Chief forward Dominik Uher has been named to the Czech Republic's roster for the 2012 World Junior Hockey Championships. The 19-year-old, who hails from Frydek-Mistek in the Czech Republic, was Spokane's first round pick in the CHL Import Draft in 2009.

The Czech Republic will open the tournament on December 27th versus Denmark. They will also play Canada, the host for this year's tournament, on December 28th, the United States on the 30th and Finland on New Year's Eve.

Uher has 10 goals and 21 points in 24 games this season as a Chief. He also leads the team with a +10. After posting a 21 goal and 60 point season a year ago, Uher was selected in the fifth round by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Uher will travel to Calgary, which is hosting the tournament along with Edmonton, on Saturday and will miss Spokane's final game before the holiday break. The Chiefs will host the Portland Winterhawks before the team gets nine days off.
