SWISS U20 CALL ON ALESSIO

Brandon, MB. -- The Brandon Wheat Kings will certainly be well represented at the World Junior Hockey Championship scheduled for Alberta this holiday season.

In addition to captain Mark Stone and Michael Ferland, who will be attending next week's National Junior Selection Camp in Calgary, the Wheat Kings have received news that 18-year old left-winger Alessio Bertaggia has been invited to the Swiss U20 National Team pre-camp.

Brandon's first round selection in the 2011 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft, the 5'8" 165 lb. Bertaggia is currently averaging close to a point per game this season, having scored thirteen goals and 27 points in 31 games.

The Swiss camp will begin on Saturday, December 17th in Red Deer, with the club's final roster to be chosen on December 23rd after they play two exhibition games.

Bertaggia is expected to play in Brandons final five pre-Christmas games, including next week's home games against Kelowna and Kamloops on Tuesday and Friday nights respectively.

The Canadian team's 22-man final roster meanwhile is expected to be unveiled on December 14th. Over forty players will attend their Selection Camp, which is set to begin this Saturday.

The World Junior Hockey Championship begins Boxing Day in both Calgary and Edmonton.
