Austin Bruins forward AJ Reid commits to Army

Press Release

Austin Bruins, proud members of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), have announced that forward AJ Reid has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for Army in West Point. Reid will begin his career with the Knights in the 2012-13 season.

Since joining the Bruins in mid-January earlier this season, Reid has been a big contributor offensively. The native of Lakeville, Minnesota has recorded seven points (1 goal, 6 assists) in 11 games played with the Bruins. Reid, 19, opened his NAHL career with a three-game point streak.

Last season, Reid (5’9/185) played for St. Thomas Academy in Minnesota and was one of ten finalists for the Minnesota Mr. Hockey award. He led St. Thomas to the Class A State Championship and was the recipient of the Herb Brooks Award, which is given annually the most qualified hockey player in the Minnesota state tournament who strongly represents the values, characteristics, and traits that defined legendary hockey coach, Herb Brooks.

“This will be another step in AJ's life to continue getting better at the game of hockey so he may someday realize his ultimate goal of playing professional hockey.” stated Bruins Head Coach Chris Tok.
