CHIEFS' UHER NAMED WHL PLAYER OF THE WEEK

CALGARY, AB. - The Western Hockey League announced today that Spokane Chiefs’ forward Dominik Uher is the WHL Player of the Week.

Uher collected nine points, scoring six goals and three assists to go with a +3 rating, in four games over the past week helping the Chiefs to a 2-2-0-0 record.

On Tuesday, January 31, the Chiefs were in Kent to face the Seattle Thunderbirds. Uher scored four goals, including the game winner, and was named the games 1st Star in the Chiefs 5-3 win over the ‘Tbirds. On Wednesday, February 1, Uher scored the lone goal in the Chiefs 4-1 road loss at the hands of the Kamloops Blazers. On Friday, February 3, the Chiefs hosted the Victoria Royals at the Spokane Arena. Uher scored one goal and added two assists in the Chiefs thrilling 6-5 shoot-out win over the Royals. On Saturday, February 4, Uher picked up one assist in the Chiefs 4-2 loss to the Kootenay Ice in Cranbrook.

Uher currently sits second in Chiefs’ team scoring with 50 points (22 goals, 28 assists) in 43 games played thus far this season. The Spokane Chiefs have won seven of their last 10 games and currently sit 4th in the WHL Western Conference with a 29-16-4-3 record for 65 points.

A 19-year-old from Frydek-Mistel,CZE, Uher is in his third full season with the Spokane Chiefs. Selected 47th overall in the 2009 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft, Uher has gone on to appear in 161 WHL career games and also represented the Czech Republic at the 2012 World Junior Championships.

The WHL has also nominated Adam Brown of the Kelowna Rockets for the CHL Goaltender of the Week Award. Brown posted a 2-0-0-0 record this past week, stopping 40 of 42 shots faced for a 0.952 save-percentage and 1.00 goals-against average. Brown, a 20-year-old from Yorba Linda, CA, led the Rockets to a pair of victories over the Prince George Cougars this past week (2-1, 4-1).
