Gourde, Graham and Bernard are named the TELUS three stars of the week

Press Release

Yanni Gourde, Domenic Graham and Jessyko Bernard were named today the TELUS three stars of the week for the period spanning January 30th to February 5th.

Victoriaville Tigres left-winger Yanni Gourde is the first star. Wednesday, against the Rimouski Océanic, he collected 4 assists along with a +/- of +1. Friday, in a 6-1 win against the Baie-Comeau Drakkar, he was named the first star of the game thanks to 2 goals and 2 assists. It was his 11th game with 4 points or more this season. He’s just one point shy of the magic 100 number, comfortably seated in first position among league scorers, 11 points ahead of Zach O’Brien of the Acadie-Bathurst Titan.

Domenic Graham, the Drummondville Voltigeurs goaltender, is awarded the second star. Friday, against the Saint John Sea Dogs who sit in first position in the league’s overall standings, Graham made 43 saves only to be defeated during the shootout 3-2. He was named the 1st star of the game. Saturday, in a 2-1 win against the Rimouski Océanic, the Drummondville netminder blocked 27 shots and was named the 2nd star of the game. The powerful Rimouski offence had just scored 17 goals in its 2 previous games. Graham is undefeated in regulation time in his 6 most recent games.

Jessyko Bernard, the PEI Rocket right-winger, is the third star. Tuesday, in a 4-1 win against the Moncton Wildcats, he scored a goal and added an assist. Thursday, in an impressive 9-6 win against the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles, he collected 3 points with 1 goal and 2 assists while scoring the 7th goal of the game that proved to be the game-winner. The next day, the Rocket signed another 4-2 victory against the Screaming Eagles as Bernard scored the winning goal with his 15th marker of the season, breaking the 2-2 tie at the end of the third period. It’s worth mentioning that with 3 wins last week, the Rocket (38 points) took over 16th place, one point ahead of the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies (37), for the last available playoff spot.
